It's my birthday today :) Woooooooooooo :D

(Y)
This is our shooting schedule, we don't expect to stick to it strictly as some things may take longer than we predict. For example yesterday we expected to do lots of shooting. We found this didn't happen and that we managed to shoot only the graveyard scene. This was because it took us a while to get there, we then had to look around the whole area for a suitable grave. Also Tom had to have his black eye put on with makeup. This took longer than expected and then we had to get back to college. We aim to get all this caught up on when Ashley is here again. Also we have to find a time when every band member is free, we are currently thinking perhaps a Wednesday afternoon would be most suitable.

We then made notes on each scene from the storyboard. We wrote down a detailed analysis of the narrative and how we would shoot it.

This is our storyboard.
This second storyboard is the exact shots we will take of the fight scene. We did this so we could see clearly eveything we had to include.

We do not necessarily aim to stick to this precisely. We have decided to change the order around slightly, adding in some elements of performance in other scenes than which we have drawn.

Yesterday we drew out our storyboard. Today we have decided to change the order of some of the scenes and wrote a detailed synopsis of exactly what is going to happen and when. We have also recruited some actors to be our band and also appear in the narrative part.

Risk Assessment

This is the risk assessment sheet that we have filled in to show any problems that may arise. whilst we are filming.

We have to fill in this sheet so that we are conscious of the risks involved. that we have thought about what problems could happen and the precautions we have to take. we need to make sure everyone of our team is safe. Safety is paramount! ;)

We have come to a conclusion that we are going to put both performance and narrative in our video. In all three of the videos we analysed both of these elements were used.

We are currently in the process of writing a questionnaire to find out what people would prefer to see in a music video and ones that they like themselves. This will give us an idea of how to structure our own video.

Cobra Starship

For my textual analysis I have chosen a song which includes a male vocalist, I think this links in very well with our chosen artist because the main singer from peter and the wolf is a male singer.

Cobra Starship – Good Girls Go Bad

The main genre of the band that I have chosen to do is Alternative Dance,
Alternative rock, Synthpop, Pop punk, you can tell this from the style of the video, the artists themselves and the characters in the music video, they are dressed stylishly and would appeal to the younger generation.

The lyrics in this video have been well represented in the music video. The band are singing about making “Good Girls Go Bad” suggesting that they are wanting to mislead girls into doing something bad which is not their normal ways hence “making good girls go bad”. This is enforced during the video showing girls doing “bad” things such as drinking, partying and gambling. The guys in the band getting arrested for misleading the “good girls”, the main girls in the video are actually the police.

The relationship between the music and the visuals is quite good because the band and the performers in the video are in a disco and the music that is accompanying the video is dance/electronic.

During this video there are a lot of close-ups of the main singer, Gabe Saporta, they are focusing up on the upper half of his body and his face. One of the items that you see in most of the videos are Gabe’s Ray Ban glasses.

There is quite a lot of reference to the notion of looking, looking at the girls in the music video, foucsing on the top half of their bodies, the girls are dressed in short skirts, high heels, low tops. Also there is a lot of use of mobile phones in this video.

This video is mostly narrative, there is no performance from the band. Its all about narrative.
